The War Between Brothers: Jews and Arabs

There is a recent study that proves genetically that Jews and Arabs are brothers one of another, and descendants of Abraham. Esau and Ishmael intermarried (Genesis 28:8-9) and became the Arabic people. Esau was Jacob’s brother–the one whose name was changed to Israel. God said that the Arabic people would be a great nation of countries (Genesis 17:20-21). There is a great love by the Most High Creator God for the Jewish and Arabic peoples. God tells of a time that is still future when there will be a highway all the way from Syria across Israel to Egypt. It will be a time when Arabs and Jews will worship the Lord together. Even though we cannot see it right now, the Most High God will bring it about. Egyptians, Syrians and Israeli’s will have a true peace and experience the blessing of the Messiah. This is what the Lord says:

23In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. 25The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance” (Isaiah 19:23-25).

We cannot see it now because of a great war that is going on over the Middle East. This war is being fought on a spiritual plane, but has consequences on Earth. Paul the Apostle wrote, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). What was Paul saying? He was saying that behind the things that are going on in the political world are invisible spiritual forces of evil that are competing for control over people’s minds and hearts. These invisible spiritual forces of evil plant thoughts and influence the minds of political leaders for a worldwide agenda to be brought about—a One World Government under a dictator the Bible calls the Antichrist. The hatred that has been pushed by the media between Jews and Arabs is of unseen demonic origin. It is just being used as a ploy for gaining control of Jerusalem, and at a time in the future, a world leader, the Antichrist, will sit in a newly rebuilt temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and proclaim himself as God (2 Thessalonians 2:4), seeking for all the world to worship him. The prophet Zechariah spoke 2500 years ago of the time that we are in right now:

2I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves (Zechariah 12:2-3).

It is important to understand that the name “Jerusalem” never appears in the Koran. The claim to Jerusalem came years after Mohammad’s death. Writer Hal Lindsey, in his book The Everlasting Hatred, The Roots of Jihad, says, “The justification for this comes from a verse which says Mohammad travelled to the “uttermost mosque,” (which is the meaning of Al Quds in Arabic) shortly before his death.” There is no evidence that this was Jerusalem—the legend of a visit to Jerusalem first appeared in the days of Khaliph Omar, the Muslim who originally conquered Jerusalem in April of AD 637, more than 560 years after the Jews were banished from Jerusalem by the Romans. There will come a time when the Arabic people will see that they have been manipulated by dark invisible forces and turn to the Lord for the free gift of His salvation that Christ won on the cross for all those that will come to Him. They will see that He has a great love for them just as He has for the Jewish people. He will have mercy on all who call on Him—for He will forgive them of their sins when they cry out to Him. What a difference on Earth that will make! Oh God, bring it about soon!

What Happened the Day Noah Entered the Ark?

Noah26“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. 28“It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30“It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed (Luke 17:26-30).

Jesus shares two examples from history. Two times when there was unrestrained evil, one in a local area, and one that was worldwide. At both times in our examples, life was going on seemingly as normal, people were eating and drinking, there was long term planning, as in planting for a harvest, building homes, marriages being planned, etc. But all of a sudden there was a day when Lot and his family disappeared with a couple of angels, and Noah and his family got into his boat and the door was locked. Guess what happened next? Just as soon as the righteous was safe, at the same instance, the same day for each of them in our two examples, the judgment of God fell on those that did not get their lives right before the Lord—those that had not turned around from their deeds that were displeasing to the Lord.

Notice that there was no seven years in between, no seven days, and no second chance where the Lord tells those left behind to come back later and they would get in. No, sorry, my dear friends, there is no biblical truth in the Left Behind series of books, it is completely fiction and a deception, I believe. Jesus is saying in this passage above that it is a back-to-back event. We are never told in scripture that the tribulation is the wrath of God. How can Antichrist be setting up an image of himself at the midpoint of the seven-year period if we believe that the seven-year period is the wrath of God? Do you really think that Antichrist is going to be able to make war against the saints (Rev 13:7) if that period of time is when the wrath of God is being poured out? When the wrath of God comes on this earth, Antichrist will be under some rock hiding from the face of the Lamb! (Revelation 6:16). The wrath of God is only poured out after the church has gone through the time Jesus warned the church about, the time he called the Great Tribulation, where the church is raptured at some point during that time, no man knows the day nor the hour (Matthew 24:30-31), but at some point during the second half of the seven-year period. The tribulation is a time of persecution on those who will not go along with Antichrist’s one world economic system of taking a mark on our wrist or forehead (Revelation 13:16). We must prepare ourselves to stay pure in a time of unrestrained evil that is being poured out on our planet. We are not to compromise with evil, even when everybody seems to be doing it:

27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world (James 1:27).

There will come a day when our God will intervene and what an awesome day that will be for every one of us who has chosen to walk with Christ and to not compromise our faith in Him. How are we to keep ourselves pure? That’s exactly what the psalmist, David, said:

9How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you (Psalm 119:9-11).

The Defender of Widows and Orphans

resurrection11Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out–the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” 14Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people” (Luke 7:11-16).

Widows and orphans have always been people that God has given special care and compassion.  His heart goes out to them in their need. It is a cruel world for those who are unmarried and have children, they are amongst the most needy in our society and even more so in the Middle East where there is no Social Security or insurance plan for the unemployed.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world (James 1:27).

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling (Psalm 68:5).

Let’s try and get a picture in our minds of the scene in front of us.  We are told in Luke 7:11 that a large crowd of people were following the disciples. Just as they were approaching the town gate they were confronted with the funeral procession. Normally there would be a band of professional mourners at the head, with their flutes and cymbals uttering their shrill cries of grief, followed by those that were carrying the boy in the coffin.  When we think of a coffin we think of a wooden box but this was more than likely a long wickerwork basket used for carrying the body to the grave.

I find it amazing that we don’t see the widow asking for a miracle, Jesus undertakes without a request from her. Author Ken Gire says: “It is a miracle done without human prompting.  Without thought of lessons to be taught to the disciples. Without thought of deity to be demonstrated to the skeptics.  It is a miracle drawn solely from the well of divine compassion.  So free the water.  So pure the heart from which it is drawn.  So tender the hand that cups it and brings it to this bereaved mother’s lips.” We are most like our Lord when we can step into the shoes of those who are poor and hurting with hearts of compassion, longing to do what we can to alleviate their pain and need.

There are some situations that God does not require faith before He moves, He acts out of His own compassion, grace and mercy.  I find it refreshing to know that even when I am at low ebb spiritually that He will move on my behalf outside of His requirement for expressions of faith. Jesus was not worried about being ritually unclean as he stepped forward and touched the coffin. People are what matter to Him. There is a higher law at work, the law of love and compassion.

His heart, we are told, went out to her. He said, “Don’t cry.” He felt her pain. When any of His people are hurting He feels their pain. Turning to the boy, he said, Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15The dead man sat up and began to talk. We are told that there was an awe that filled them, astonishment at such a thing.  This awe was awareness that God indeed was visiting His people, How could this be! This man was dead! Imagine the praise that went up, verse 16, as relatives and the mother herself received her son back from the dead.  Imagine what pain there would be in losing your only son and then the joy of holding the one you already had to release to death.

“God has come to help His people!” (verse 16).

According to the gospel writers, every funeral that Jesus went to He raised up the dead person! There was Lazarus in John 11, the Centurions servant in Luke 7:1-10, and then Jairus’ daughter was also raised from the dead in Luke 8:40-56. Alfred Edersheim in his book “The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah” tells us that the Jews believed that there would be three evidences in the ministry of the Messiah, He would cleanse lepers, heal the blind and raise the dead.  Are you convinced yet that this is indeed the Messiah? God has come to help His people!

Did You Receive The Pardon?

There is a gift that the God of the Universe wants to give to you. It is the gift of a complete pardon for all your offenses against Him. This free gift is only awarded to a person on their complete repentance (change of mind towards Him resulting in a change of direction for one’s life), and receiving of the pardon. The pardon is locked up in receiving the person of Jesus the Messiah (Christ) into the core of your being.

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me (Revelation 3:20).

In the year 1829, a Philadelphia man named George Wilson robbed the U.S. Mail Service, killing someone in the process. Wilson was arrested, brought to trial, found guilty, and sentenced to be hanged. Some friends intervened in his behalf and were finally able to obtain a pardon for him from President Andrew Jackson. But, when he was informed of this, George Wilson refused to accept the pardon! The sheriff was unwilling to enact the sentence—for how could he hang a pardoned man? An appeal was sent to President Jackson. The perplexed President turned to the United States Supreme Court to decide the case. Chief Justice Marshall ruled that a pardon is a piece of paper, the value of which depends on its acceptance by the person implicated. It is hardly to be supposed that a person under the sentence of death would refuse to accept a pardon, but if it is refused, it is then not a pardon. George Wilson must be hanged. So, George Wilson was executed, although his pardon lay on the sheriff’s desk. What will you do with the full pardon offered to you by the Chief Justice—the God of the Universe?

So, dear friend, have you received the pardon yet? Does your pardon for sin still lay on the desk? To what will you appeal to in the day of Judgment? How much time do you have left? Is there a better day than today to receive His pardon? Be sincere before Him and own your personal sin before Him. Tell Him your need of forgiveness for your sin, and invite Him into your life. Receive His pardon!
